PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today he hoped the people of Perak not get involved in any political activities that is disrespectful of the Federal Court decision that made Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir the rightful menteri besar of the state.

The Prime Minister said the time had come for all quarters to give Zambry the opportunity to show his ability to champion the people's interests and develop the state.

"Thank God, with today's decision of the Federal Court which is the apex court in our judicial system, the issue of who should be the menteri besar and form the government in Perak has been settled.

"I hope this decision gives closure to the matter (as to who is the rightful menteri besar of Perak) and that there no longer be any disputes concerning the legitimacy of the Perak government," he said.

He told this to reporters after witnessing the signing of an agreement between GIIG Holdings Sdn Bhd and Aluminium Corporation of China Limited to develop an aluminium smelter at the Samalaju Industrial Park in Bintulu, Sarawak.
