PETALING JAYA: A 70-year-old woman was driving her car oblivious to the fact that the vehicle's undercarriage was on fire in Section 14 here this morning.

The driver, Sathia Bhawa D. Arunasalam, escaped in the nick of time after being alerted by other motorists who were frantically honking at her along Jalan Datuk Abdul Aziz.

Within minutes, flames engulfed her Ford Ghia opposite the Tun Abdul Aziz mosque causing a massive jam about 10.55am.

According to a witness, the car was leaking oil and fire started from under it while on the move.
