MALACCA: Four DAP assemblymen staged a walkout when the Malacca State Assembly approved a motion to suspend another party assemblyman, Khoo Poay Tiong (Ayer Keroh) for one day.

The four were DAP Malacca chief Goh Leong San (Kesidang), Betty Chew Gek Cheng (Kota Laksamana), Lim Jak Wong (Bachang) and Tey Kok Siew (Bandar Hilir).

State executive councillor Datuk Yaakub Md Amin, who is the chief whip, tabled a motion to suspend Khoo by citing Regulation 34 (3) of the Standing Order for disrupting yesterday's meeting.

The motion, which was supported by another state executive councillor, Datuk Seet Har Cheow, was approved by a majority vote from Barisan Nasional assemblymen.

Khoo was suspended from the state assembly for one day for defying speaker Datuk Wira Othman Muhamad Othman's directive during debate on a solid waste management centre yesterday.

Walkout? So now we have 5 members "suspended" - 4 of them voluntary. Grow up all of you! Firstly that is not very professional. Seems more like being childish. You fellows must remind yourself that you represent your constituencies. How do you expect to accomplish any decent work for the day if you are walking out? There are many ways to rebuke and protest. Maybe it's time for DAP to get more creative with churning out dispensable options. More so, tell your members that!
