It has been four years since her last show in the country and it was worth the wait for fans as she rewarded them with her hit love songs.
Added treat for night was her good friends who showed up to give support.
Big names like A-Niu, Z-Chen (her cousin who is currently making headlines with his controversial MTV) and special guest – Malaysia’s ‘big brother’ of the Chinese scene – Michael Wong, fueled the flames.
Fish was completely comfortable on stage unleashing her Malaysian roots. She chatted with fans in Mandarin, Malaysian-style, with full gusto, reconnecting with Malaysians who have been eagerly waiting for her return.
When Michael appeared on stage, they gossiped like long lost friends to a point where Fish even suggested turning the rest of the night into a talk show.
“Don’t think you can get away with being cheeky just because you are home,” warned an amused Michael as Fish chuckled away on stage.
Even A-Niu joined in. Making an appearance during the encore, A-Niu stated he was the icing on the cake at her concert – “percuma 30%”!
To which Fish playfully complained about not having any dialogs in his upcoming movie, Ice Kacang Puppy Love.
“My fans will boycott your movie!” she joked.
Not backing down, A-Niu retaliated by asking for her hand in marriage on behalf of Mr T, Fish’s boyfriend, through a love song. Fish turned red, blushed and quietly surrendered as she smiled shyly.
Of course the night did not belong to the stars alone. It was an occasion for the fans too who sang along to every number.
Their love Fish was evident despite the negative reports of her being too occupied with Taiwan and forgetting her roots. And for that she was grateful. Fish could not hold back her tears as the night drew to a close.
As a dedication of sorts to her fans, she sang You’ve sang my song before (her only Cantonese single) to show them how overwhelmed she was with their adoration for her.
Apart from performing fans’ favourites, she also belted out a few renditions of her personal pick, including Beyond’s Lover.
When all was sung, said and done, fans were sorry that the show was over and so soon! They just couldn’t get enough of the friendly Fish.
