Protest over Sri Damansara link road

UNHAPPY: Residents of Bandar Sri Damansara worry that the proposed link road will spoil their quality of life
"Since the development of the town in 1990, the developers have been very mindful of the local needs and demands.
The existence of this link will jeopardise the quality of living here. It is actually an act of encroaching on our property," said Bandar Sri Damansara Residents' Association president Ravindran Raman Kutty.
He said problems with such a link would be traffic congestion, illegal parking and security.
He added that residents were not against development but they were concerned about the developers' responsibility when building the area.
"It is important that there is comprehensive development so that future residents of the area could enjoy what the residents of Bandar Sri Damansara enjoy right now," he said.
However, Petaling Jaya councillor for the area, Chan Chee Kong, said the proposal for the link, cutting through Persiaran Maranti and Persiaran Perdana to reach the LDP, had been in existence before 2008.
"As there had been a protest regarding the matter, the proposal was turned down. It is not an issue and the council has decided not to proceed with it," Chan said.
Talk of the link revived when it was suggested at a public hearing by a resident of Damai Damansara.
The suggestion was published in newspapers, causing an uproar among residents.
