TWO people who attended the KLue Urbanscapes 2009 festival on Saturday are down with the Influenza A (H1N1) infection, said the Health Ministry yesterday.

Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican told Malay Mail via a text message that the 147th case was admitted to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on Tuesday. The individual, he said, had returned from a five-day holiday in Jakarta on June 22 and developed symptoms on the night of the event.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry's Disease Control Division director Datuk Dr Hasan Abdul Rahman advised those who had come into close contact with the individual to check in at the nearest clinic or hospital to be tested for H1N1.

"We are also checking with the individual to get a record of those who had come into contact with him so we can check on them as well," he said.

Yesterday, Bernama reported that there were 38 new Influenza H1N1 cases, comprising 33 imported cases and five local transmitted cases reported, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 196.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said of the 38 cases, 30 were Malaysians, five Indonesians and a Swede, a Palestinian and an Argentinean.

He said the locally infected cases involved three students of SM Tsun Jin, Jalan Loke Yew, Cheras, while the other two came into contact with the 143rd and 147th victims respectively.

Currently, 86 patients are receiving treatment while 110 patients had recovered from the virus.

The 147th Influenza A (H1N1) victim is a 25-yearold University Kuala Lumpur student from Danau Kota, Setapak, who had just returned from a five-day holiday in Jakarta with friends on Monday.

The student, who wished to remain anonymous, said there were no symptoms then and he was cleared by health officers after undergoing screening at the airport.

He only started developing symptoms around 8pm while still at the KLue Urbanscapes 2009 festival at the KL Performing Arts Centre (KLPac). He had been there since the afternoon. "I felt unwell all of a sudden.

My joints ached and I was coughing. My friend, who also went to Jakarta, took me to a clinic but they didn't have the facilities to check for the virus. So I decided that since it was late, I would go to the hospital the next day," he said.

After undergoing checks, he was instructed to remain at home until his case could be confirmed.

At 4am on Monday, an ambulance came to take him to Kuala Lumpur Hospital. The student said his friend,
who had also developed symptoms on Sunday, has also been confirmed A (H1N1)  positive and is currently
admitted at the hospital.

The student was discharged yesterday at 3pm and has been instructed to remain at home until this Sunday along with five other family members.
