THE Asean PGA today issued a statement clarifying the speculation regarding the payment of prize money for the recent Heritage Melaka Classic.

Their executive chaiman AC Wong said: “We are extremely disappointed that event promoters Paramount Event Sdh Bhd have not yet paid the Asean PGA the prize money for the event.

"While we are investigating the options available to the Asean PGA for collecting these monies from the promoter we wish to assure all the players who participated in this event that the Asean PGA will step in and pay the players by 10 July 2009, within the 30 days required by Tour regulations.

“This is an extremely unfortunate situation which we aim to quickly resolve so we can move forward and prepare for our next event, the Mercedes-Benz Masters Malaysia this month. It is the first time we have experienced such a situation since the Tour was inaugurated in 2007 and we certainly intend to ensure it will be the last.”
