D-day in court for taxi rapist
THE fake taxi driver who allegedly went on a vicious rape-robbing spree in Klang Valley early this year is expected to be charged in court today.
It is learnt the 31-year-old, who pretended to be a taxi driver to snare his victims, will be charged under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape after a much awaited DNA report was completed recently.
Police believe the man, who drove a taxi with modified locks, had committed at least two sex crimes in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
In the most recent case, he is said to have robbed and raped a 28-year-old salesgirl near Kepong, after picking her up from Bandar Utama on Jan 21.
He had even waited for cab fare when he dropped her at her home in Section 17, Petaling Jaya.
He was arrested on Feb 11 when he sought treatment at a hospital after being assaulted in Cheras by a gang of drug dealers who also set his taxi ablaze.
Members of the public informed policemen at the hospital that the suspect resembled the photofit of the wanted rapist.
Investigations into other charges against him are continuing.
