Ribery sale hots up
THE Franck Ribery transfer saga seems to have taken another twist with big spenders Real Madrid set to offer their players Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder plus cash in order to land the signature of the French winger from Bayern Munich.
A host of European clubs continue to track the 26-year old Ribery, who recently said his preferred destination would be to join up with international teammate Karim Benzema at Santiago Bernabeu next season.
Bayern Munich manager Luis Van Gaal has admitted he hopes to have a decision on Ribery’s future soon to avoid transfer talk interrupting his pre-season preparations, although he remains hopeful the player will remain in Germany.
The Daily Star reported Real value the Dutch duo of Robben and Sneijder at around €47 million and are willing to include a €17.5 million (RM86.3m) cash supplement to reach an agreement with the Bundesliga giants.
Both players have been informed by Real sporting director Jorge Valdano that they should consider furthering their careers elsewhere, as club president Florentino Perez continues to build a new multi-million dollar side.
Sneijder is also a transfer target for Chelsea while Manchester City have been monitoring the progress of Robben as manager Mark Hughes looks to add to his squad at Eastlands.
A stumbling block may be the pair’s unwillingness to move to Germany and whether Bayern would be able to meet their wage demands. Things are getting more interesting.
