MANOHARA ISSUE: Prince makes all the moves

While Tengku Fakhry takes legal action, Manohara and mother keep low profile

THE accused seems to be taking all the legal action to clear his name while the accusers have strangely not moved an inch — except to continue to vilify their “tormentor” in the media. This is the continuing saga of the Manohara affair in which Princess Manohara Odelia, 17, and her mother Daisy Fajarina, 44, have not instituted any legal action against Tengku Temenggong Kelantan Tengku Muhammad Fakhry, 32.

Tengku Fakhry: Wants to bring a quick end to the affair

Manohara had claimed that the Kelantan prince had raped, tortured and imprisoned her during their nine months of marriage.

Daisy also made similar allegations but both of them have neither produced any medical reports establishing assault nor instituted legal action against the prince.

All the allegations have been denied by the prince who has lodged a police report against his wife over her claims and started a series of legal actions against mother and daughter.

Manohara had reportedly appointed a Malaysian lawyer, Mohamed Zaini Mazlan, while Tengku Fakhry has appointed two lawyers, Mohd Haaziq Pillay and Zainul Rijal to oversee the common law and Islamic law matters respectively.

Tengku Fakhry, said Haaziq, wants to bring a quick end to the affair that has tarnished his name and that of the Kelantan palace. Haaziq said Tengku Fakhry is “extremely desirous of getting to the truth”.

“Similarly, both Manohara and Daisy must face the consequences and punishment in the event their accusations are found to be lies for defaming my client,” he said.

Malay Mail contacted Haaziq to seek confirmation on whether Mohamed Zaini had contacted him with respect to the threatened litigation against Tengku Fakhry in Malaysia, as widely reported by the Indonesian, international and local Press.

“I regret to inform you that at as to date no such attempts have been made by the lawyer or his firm. I have been instructed by my client to accept service of process on his behalf.

“My client’s instructions are that both mother and daughter are welcome to institute any legal proceedings that they deem fit as this will give him an opportunity to legally address the allegations.

“These allegations have so far not been substantiated by any concrete evidence and remain baseless and without merit. It remains a myth with the accusers roaming freely, hiding behind the shadow of Press freedom.”

On when the Writ of Summons will be filed by Tengku Fakhry for defamation, Haaziq said: “The cause papers are nearing completion and it would be filed soon.”

On Sunday, Tengku Fakhry filed two separate summonses against Manohara, demanding that she be loyal to him and the return of a nearly RM1mil loan. In his affidavit, Tengku Fakhry said his marriage to Manohara was blissful in the beginning until Daisy started going to the Indonesian media to slander him and that had affected his relationship with his wife.

He added that on May 31, while the couple was in Singapore to visit his father, Sultan Ismail Petra, who was suffering from heart ailment, Manohara had left for Indonesia on her own accord. He said Manohara never returned to him and had slandered him further through the Indonesian media. He has asked the court to issue an order for her to be loyal or deemed to be nusyuz (disobedient). The Syariah Court has set Aug 2 for mention of both the cases.

Comments

from the beginning i was not impressed by daisy's claims. If her daughter was raped by her future husband before their marriage, why did daisy allow a rapist to marry her daughter? Must be the money. It now seems more and more like Tengku is the victim. i am not a paid supporter of Tengku. i just see things as they seem to me. If Mano can look so happy (in spite of the suffering she claims to be going through) in the picture taken when she and Tengku attended a wedding, then she really must be a good actress.

Justification, justification and more justification! One gets what one ask for and do not expect the sharks not to bite when one swims with them!!! A new soap opera ion the making? If it is, maybe, we can call it "As the stomach churns".

A sad story between a husband and wife, dragging the very private family affairs into the public arena. While Daisy/Manohara basked in the publicity (good and bad), the reputation of Kelantan royalty is dragged into the mud by the turns of events.
