Thanasayan is PJ councillor again
PETALING Jaya City Council councillor Anthony Thanasayan has every reason to smile - he has been given another term to serve.
Council deputy president Puasa Md Taib said Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had signed the letter extending Thanasayan 's term last week.
"He will be sworn in before our full board meeting," Puasa said yesterday.
Thanasayan, who was warded at a hospital for an ailment (urine infection), said he was overjoyed at receiving the letter of extension.
"I am very happy. I didn't believe it when I got the letter last Friday. The first thing I will do is to attend to the mobility ramp, as I need to give details on its user- friendliness and its shortcomings to the engineers before the final work is done," said Thanasayan yesterday.
Malay Mail had reported last Thursday that Mayor Datuk Mohamad Roslan Sakiman had said after the second swearing-in ceremony of councillors last Wednesday, that the seat reserved for the disabled group would be decided by the State government soon.
It could be Thanasayan or a new representative who would fill that seat, he had said.
Thanasayan had described dropping him from the list of councillors as unfair, given that one year was too short to complete his projects.
He said during his past term, he was able to come up with a blueprint for specially designed toilets that will be built soon in PJ, drawn up guidelines for homes for the elderly, and get a 500 metre mobility ramp for the disabled built along Jalan Gasing, with an allocation of RM180,000 from the council.
