KUALA LUMPUR: Chinese language newspaper China Press has imposed a two -week suspension on its  editor-in-chief Teoh Yong Khoon for over the daily's 'inaccurate report' on the resignation of Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan.

In a front-page apology today, the daily said its March 13 report was "inconsistent with the facts" after the report was disputed by both Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and Musa.

The four-paragraph statement said the Home Ministry had accepted its reply to the showcause letter.

AT least one embassy in Malaysia has lodged a police report on potential terror threats.

A source from the Home Ministry told Malay Mail that the security clampdown on major tourist areas in Kuala Lumpur stemmed from reports obtained by Malaysian intelligence sources, following which precautionary measures needed to be taken.

"We learnt this from our intelligence reports and also from a police report lodged by an embassy," said the high-ranking official.

"However, we cannot reveal more as it may compromise the efforts of our police force," he said.

MORE than 10 Immigration officers are being investigated for involvement in human trafficking.

The officers, based at various locations in Peninsular Malaysia, face prosecution for their roles in the activity, the Prosecution Unit head at the Attorney-General's Chambers, Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah, said yesterday.

He said investigations into their activities were ongoing and "it was a matter of time" before they were hauled up.

"We expect to complete investigations very soon," he added.

DATUK Kadar Shah Sulaiman Ninam Shah should offer proof that his involvement in the Manohara saga was carried out at the behest of the Kelantan palace.

A source from the Society of The Kelantan Royalty (Pertubuhan Kerabat DiRaja Kelantan) told Malay Mail that if Kadar Shah had actually obtained the palace’s blessing, he should furnish the necessary evidence.

THE Home Ministry has defended its controversial “Voluntary Repatriation of Overstayers” programme, despite the many questions levelled at the Ministry over its methods.

The programme enables overstayers to avoid meeting the Immigration Department to pay their compound for overstaying by liaising with a select number of companies — some of which comprise travel and tour firms, transport and outsourcing companies.
