EACH person has a different interest and aspiration. For Melvin Tan, it’s the hospitality and tourism industry. Currently in the last year of the Diploma in Tourism Management at SEGi University, Melvin Tan Kay Young hopes to be in the management team of an airline company.

THOSE thinking of pursuing a career in radio and film should check out the Department of Communication at HELP University (HU).

WITH Dr James Walsh helming the Pre-University Studies programme at MAHSA University College, students can rest well knowing their journey into university life would be solid.

"Be your own boss," he said when asked how students should embrace university life. "Being a student in school is very different from what it's like in university."

JULIET JOHN, who grew up in Malaysia but completed her higher education and worked in Australia for a number of years, has developed a free iPhone/iPod app called "Malaysia in Melbourne" for Malaysian students to feel at home when studying in Australia.

"It's my own little project to help Malaysian students settle into their lives in Melbourne," she said, commenting on how she hit on the idea.

OBTAINING a degree has never been more crucial than in today’s dynamic and competitive world.

A degree could lead to a multitude of opportunities and diverse career paths and since it is common knowledge that business and law degrees are among the most versatile degrees in the world, it is no surprise that they are the more popular choices.

APART from picking up all the necessary skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in the industry, Hospitality and Tourism (H&T) students at SEGi University are also trained to be innovative and creative professionals.

SQUASHING the general misconception, "early literacy" is not the teaching of reading, but everything children know about reading and writing before they can actually do so.
