THE dominant forces globally for wealth creation are based on market capitalism which propagates competition, individualism and profit maximization.

These virtues are often appreciated and taught in business schools. While this approach has many positive features however there are also negative impacts which must be recognized.

I HAD the opportunity on March 22 to participate at a special address given by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations.

It was a historical gathering as this was the first visit by a UN secretary-general in recent years and the only public talk during this visit.

I WATCHED the Astro Awani coverage of the political debate between Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and Lim Guan Eng. This opens a new chapter in the political discourse in Malaysian history and especially a refreshing break in the post March 8, 2008 political culture.

RECENTLY on our return from an overseas trip, my wife and I, took a taxi from the low-cost carrier terminal (LCCT) and while in the taxi asked the driver if he owned the taxi permit and the car.
