PETALING JAYA: Police will be keeping an eye on the 11 players and a former coach recently punished by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for their involvement in bribery and match-fixing.

Federal Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies (D7) deputy director SAC Datuk Abdul Jalil Hassan said they had to take such an action as there was a possibility the banned players might influence other players in the Super League, Pre-mier League, FAM League or President Cup to take bribes.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have never closed the files on the case involving the distribution of semi-nude photos of Parti Keadilan Rakyat's (PKR) Selangor executive council member Elizabeth Wong.

Federal CID chief Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Zinin said their investigation had never stopped.

"We never closed the files on the case. Our investigation continues even to this day," he told The Malay Mail.
KUALA LUMPUR: Jalan Raja Laut — no stranger to criminal activities — was rocked when the body of a murdered woman was found stuffed inside a bag in a budget hotel at about 10.30pm on Sunday night.

The body of the woman, identified as Indonesian national Rumiyati, was stuffed in a zipper bag and placed in front of a hotel room on the third floor.

Rumiyati, believed to be in her 30s,had checked in at 2pm on the same day.

Police said there were strangulation marks on her neck. A hunt has been launched for the killer.

SUNGAI BULOH: Three foreigners, believed to be part of a human trafficking syndicate, are being sought by police for transporting 25 Afghan and Iranian illegal immigrants off Kuala Sedili in Johor early Wednesday.

The boat they were on was heading towards Batam, Indonesia when it capsized in choppy waters at about 6.30am.

Eight were confirmed drowned while 12 others have been rescued.

The immigrants, aged between 20 and 30, were believed to be trying to sneak into Australia.

SUNGAI BULOH: Two men have been questioned for allegedly spreading rumours that Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar had died in London.

Deputy-Inspector General of Police Datuk Seri Khalid Abu Bakar said both men, in their 30s, were picked up in Penang and Ipoh, Perak separately on Wednesday.

SUNGAI BULOH: Don't be duped by the provocative acts of those behind the dumping of pig body parts at two mosques in Rawang and Sentul over the last two days, says Deputy-Inspector General of Police, Datuk Seri Khalid Abu Bakar.

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed said the unemployed man in his early 20s was picked up following investigations into the case.

DAMANSARA: A morning trip to the market turned into an unforgettable outing for a housewife when she stumbled upon a body by the roadside in Kampung Sungai Kayu Ara yesterday.

The deceased male was found with seven stab wounds and a slash mark on his body at about 7am.

SELAYANG: The body of a murdered taxi driver found slumped in the back seat of his cab near the Kuala Lumpur wet market last Monday was the result of a drug deal gone wrong.

KL CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said initial investigations revealed the driver was involved in drug-related activities.

“We have yet to ascertain if the victim was murdered by a drug pusher or a drug addict,” said Ku.

He said police believed the victim, aged between 30 and 40 and of dark complexion, was operating in the area when the incident took place.
