PETALING JAYA: Malaysia has been ranked among the worst in Asia in this year’s Freedom of the Press Survey, standing at 30 from 36 countries monitored.

In the index, the lower the evaluation score, the freer the country. Malaysia registered a score of 63 from 100 which means the country’s press is not free.

In the global ranking of 197 countries, Malaysia slipped five steps from last year at 144 to 149, below Madagascar but above Singapore at 152.
