PETALING JAYA: Who would have thought doing the laundry in the morning could be dangerous?

This was apparently the case for a woman in her 70s, who was attacked at her house in Section 19/5 yesterday.

In the 6am incident, the woman was confronted by two robbers, one armed with a pistol, while hanging clothes.

Police said the duo forced her back into her double-storey house at gunpoint.
PUTRAJAYA: The police welcome former inspector-general of police Tun Hanif Omar as chairman of the independent panel investigating violence in the Bersih 3.0 rally as they are confident he will remain impartial.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar expressed support for the choice of Hanif, saying police were confident he would be professional and investigate the matter fairly.
PUTRAJAYA: The one-week grace period for 141 Bersih 3.0 participants to own up will end tomorrow.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said only 21 had so far come forward to assist in investigations, but admitted some were detained by police.

"Now that the time given is coming to an end, police will now start tracing those involved in the gathering of April 28," he said during a visit to Hospital Putrajaya yesterday as part of 205th Police Day celebrations.

Ismail said eight had been charged in court.

SUBANG JAYA: When 74-year-old SS19 resident Yip Sun Wah left home for his daily morning walk, little did he realise it would be his last.

Just two streets away from home, Yip was attacked by an American bull terrier and died on the street after succumbing to his injuries.

SUBANG JAYA: Yip Hon Mun, the son of 74-year-old Yip Sun Wah, the victim of a dog attack in Subang Jaya, will never forget his last moments with his father, just half an hour before the incident that took his father's life away.

"I had dropped in at the house to pass my father some money for the month. It was just half an hour before he went out for his daily exercise."

SUBANG JAYA: The three-year-old dog that mauled a 74-year-old jogger to death yesterday morning could be put to sleep as the law allows it, according to the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ).

"The dog is now currently under the custody of Selangor Veterinary Services Department," said the Council's deputy corporate communication director, Azfarizal Abdul Rashid.

"Based on our records, the dog has a licence allowing it to be kept inside a house. It is not a pitbull, as reported. Its breed has been identified as an American bull terrier," he said.

KUALA LUMPUR: After analysing their videos, police have released 49 mugshots of those wanted for causing a riot during the Bersih 3.0 rally last Saturday.

Police are asking those identified in the pictures to come forward. Those who know the individuals and can identify them should inform the police.

KUALA LUMPUR: Rasah PKR deputy division chief R. Thangam was charged in the Sessions Court yesterday evening with two counts of violating a magistrate’s court order barring the Bersih 3.0 rally at Dataran Merdeka last week.

The 50-year-old former soldier claimed trial to the charges after it was read to him in Tamil.

Tangam, was charged with violating an order under Section 98 of the Criminal Procedure Code made by magistrate Zaki Asyraf Zubir on April 26.

He allegedly committed the offence at Jalan Raja at about 3pm on April 28.
