KLANG: Selangor's Istana Alam Shah today became the nation's first palace to receive the MS ISO 9001:2008  when its administration office received the certification.

The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, was present at the certification presentation ceremony at Balai Tengah of the palace here this morning.

Also present was Sirim Bhd president Yahaya Ahmad.

He says on Jan 28, he ordered five items, including a study table.

"The table was delivered to my house on Jan 30 but the delivery man, who was also the driver, did not know how to set it up, although he tried, as the accompanying manual was in a foreign language," says REUBEN.

GET your train tickets fast if you are returning to your hometowns for the Chinese New Year holidays.

KTM Berhad said tickets for journeys to the north, east and south between Feb 10 and 13 are selling out. Up to Feb 3, only 8,788 out of 37,824 tickets are left.

However, there are still plenty of tickets available for train journeys between Feb 14 and 21.

Altogether, KTM has allocated 91,032 tickets for journeys between Feb 10 and 21.

ARVIN of Petaling Jaya feels Astro needs to buck up.

"On Jan 23, my new B.yond decoder couldn’t be switched on. The next day, I noticed that the decoder was still not able to power up. I reported the problem and got a call from their technical support later in the evening, almost 11 hours after I complained," he says, adding that he was informed that the decoder might have some hardware problem and the technician will visit his house to replace the unit.

DALJIT of Petaling Jaya is upset with the alleged lack of security at the Nissan Service Centre in Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur.

On Jan 19, DALJIT sent his Nissan Urvan van for regular service at the centre at noon. When he later picked up his vehicle at 4.30pm, he accidentally left his bag at the reception desk.

Pat Lu, an administrator of a Facebook group called We Support the Use of the Name Allah by All Malaysians, discovered that her Facebook profile has been duplicated and misused by unscrupulous individuals and she fears it will be used for bad intentions.

PETALING JAYA: Yayasan Basmi Kemiskinan's (YBK) legal panel has poured cold water on Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s demand that the trustees appoint him as foundation chairman.

The reason: The trustees don’t have the power to do so.

"YBK is a private trust board created under the Trustee Incorporation Act 1952. Under the Act and the trust deed, the trustees are not empowered to appoint another trustee to the board," YBK's legal panel head Tan Sri Aziz Rahman told The Malay Mail.

THE Ampang Jaya Municipal Council has posted 160,000 assessment bills to property owners since Dec 1 this year.

According to a Press statement, the council is also advising rate-payers to settle on or before Feb 28 next year.

Those who have yet to receive their assessment are advised to collect copies of the bills from the council head office at Menara MPAJ in Pandan Indah.

Property-owners can also check and print out their assessment bills online at www.mpaj.gov.my.

SUE is upset with the price set for upholstery work for one of the dining chairs she had bought.

"I bought a dining set in 2007 from the Rozel outlet in Taman Tun Dr Ismail and the upholstery on one of the chairs peeled off recently. I called the shop about it and their staff promised to call back."

After waiting for quite some time, SUE received no call from the outlet. "I then called the headquarter's customer service unit and they informed that I have to pay RM300 to replace the upholstery."

Sistem Penyuraian Trafik KL Barat Sdn Bhd (Sprint), the concessionaire for Sprint Highway, is conducting the exercise between 5pm and 7.30pm daily until today.

ENTRY permit applicants are urged to contact the Home Ministry for security verification purposes before the Jan 15 deadline.

According to a statement, efforts by the ministry to contact applicants of entry permits for foreigners wishing to enter and reside in Malaysia at their given addresses, had failed.

Since applicants could not be contacted at the address written in their application forms, they are required to contact the ministry by Jan 15, failing which their application may be canceled.
