The song Pergi, written by Pete Teo and Amran Omar, perfomed by Aizat, won the 24th Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL24) yesterday. The song was featured in the late Yasmin Ahmad's final movie Talentime.

The songwriters for Pergi walked away with a trophy and a cash prize of RM35,000. The runner up was Dan Sebenarnya (written and performed by Yuna), while third place went to the Faizal Tahir song Bencinta, penned by Audi Mok and Faizal Tahir.

Natrah, which is currently being staged at Istana Budaya until Dec 9, is inspired by the true story of Maria Hertogh or better known as Natrah, whose plight had caused riots in the 1950s when the court decided to give custody of Natrah to her biological Dutch Catholic parents after she had been raised as a Muslim, under the care of Che Aminah Mohamad.

The riots that ensued cost 18 lives, with 173 people injured and many properties damaged.

JUDGING from the overall look of Metrowealth Movies Production's (MMP) latest horror movie, Santau, it is safe to say that the movie is set to follow in the footsteps of their most bankable horror movie Jangan Pandang Belakang (JPB).

While JPB was directed by an experienced director, Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nazri, Santau was instead, directed by a newcomer, Azhari Zain.

ALMOST a week after Akademi Fantasia season seven (AF7) ended, talk is still on the hits and misses during the final concert.

The most talked about incident was definitely one of the jury’s comments during the concert, that raised many
eyebrows.

During the concert, held at the Bukit Jalil Indoor Putra Stadium, Adlin Aman Ramli had commented on the song selection of Ismaliza Ismail, who performed Misha Omar’s Cinta Adam dan Hawa.

Adlin said he had no idea why the song was selected as he didn’t see any speciality in the song.
