476 motions to be debated at Umno general assembly
SOME 476 motions from 191 divisions will be up for debate at Umno general assembly 2012 at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) from Nov 27 to Dec 1.
Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said they received 521 motions and 45 motions were accepted without debate while no motion was rejected.
"The economy motion will be coordinated by Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed and Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin, religion motion by Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom and education and social motion by Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir."
Umno general assembly 2012 which is the last before 13th general election is considered to be important to strengthen the party, said Hishammuddin who is also assembly motion committee chairman.
He said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has transformed the party over the last three years and this should be translated by delegates attending the Umno general assembly.
"We must always remind them (delegates) to make transformation and change as the main agenda during the debate. My worry is that the debate will focus on internal issues that don't reflect the party leadership since 12th general election."
Hishammuddin said the assembly is the best way for the party to get closer to the target group in a more comprehensive manner so that delegates can deliver the government message clearly. -Bernama
