Blistering vocals with engaging lyrics from Dulcinea
In The Shadow Of The Sun is Dulcinea’s sophomore album, following 2008’s The Politics Of Fear. Dulcinea, the band formed in 2006 by Mathew Thomas, Jason Ng and Rashid Said is named after a character in Miguel De Cervantes’ novel Don Quixote, a representation of what it means to be alive and all the joy and suffering that goes with a life consciously and fully lived.
As their goal is to communicate, express and heal through music, the lyrics, tunes and artwork for their second album deal with a person facing and overcoming various traumatic experiences in life through the pursuit of artistic endeavors and the channeling of those energies into positive experiences. It showcases the epic conflict between worlds of beauty and the darkest of demons.
In The Shadow Of The Sun has a more organic guitar oriented sound that mixes both alternative rock music with tendencies to go off on experimental tangents compared to their previous album.
Dulcinea embarks on a journey towards discovering the darker realms of the subconscious through some blistering hard rock, engaging lyrics, odd time signatures, ambient soundscapes and emotive musicianship.
