THE
payment of the 1Malaysia People's Aid 2.0 (BR1M 2.0) will begin in February next year, Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said today.

He said in a statement that BR1M 2.0, involving an allocation of RM3 billion, was expected to benefit 4.3 million households and 2.7 million single unmarried individuals aged 21 and above.

Each household with a monthly income of less than RM3,000 was eligible to receive a one-off payment of RM500 and the single unmarried individuals earning less than RM2,000 were eligible to receive RM250.

Ahmad Husni said households left out of the list of recipients of BR1M this year or those who had yet to apply for the aid could do so now.

He said 2,684,916 new applications for BR1M 2.0 had been received up to today, with 1,823,039 of them being from single unmarried individuals and 861,877 from households.

"The government encourages more single unmarried individuals to apply for BR1M 2.0. Registration will be open until a date to be announced," he said.

This year, 4.2 million people benefitted from the BR1M payment, involving an allocation of RM2.1 billion. — Bernama
