KELANA JAYA: More dirt has been unearthed as three ‘’senior’’ teams are currently being investigated by the FA of Malaysia (FAM) for matchfixing.’’

Such a revelation is fresh after Mailsport, had in its article yesterday, revealed 31 President’s Cup players and offi cials from T-Team, MP Muar and Penang SDM Navy were believed to be on the take and are temporarily suspended until the Disciplinary Board (DB) meets next.

FAM’s independent committee, headed by Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat, made the announcement in a last minute Press Conference held at Wisma FAM yesterday.

“It’s a shame. I helped set up one of the teams in the past,” he said.

“Drastic action has been proposed to the DB to consider.”

Aseh also revealed an ex-senior police officer will be appointed as the Head of Coordination and Integrity Unit, a full time unit set up by FAM recently to combat the matchfixing fiasco in the country.

Suspected bookies will be prevented from travelling abroad and known foreign bookies will not be allowed entry into Malaysia - an indication the unit will also work closely with the Immigration Department.

“They will be charged when investigations are completed.”

The vetting committee will meet every second Tuesday of the month and a network is being worked out among neighbouring countries.
