SERDANG: The Higher Education Ministry has targeted to attract 150,000 foreign students to pursue their studies in the country by 2015, said its secretary-general, Datuk Ab Rahim Md Noor.
He said until the end of last year, 96,000 foreign students furthered their studies in the country and efforts were being intensified to promote Malaysia as a choice destination for tertiary education.
Malaysia is fast emerging as an educational hub offering a high standard of tertiary education at affordable fees, much cheaper than that of their own countries, he told reporters at the 1KPT Family Carnival here today.
He said the ministry had set up education promotion centres in Dubai, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City and Beijing.
