TOKYO: Honda, Japan's second-biggest carmaker after crisis-hit Toyota, yesterday recalled more than 400,000 vehicles to fix airbags that it said can explode and spray out potentially deadly metal shards.

The recall, the third related to the defect since late 2008, includes topselling Accord and Civic cars sold in the United States and Canada as well as models marketed in Japan, Mexico, Taiwan and Australia.

The CR-X was a great car, nimble, easy to drive and never one to bite your head off if the driver gets too cocky or overconfident.

In short it was a car worthy of a place in the modern classic category.

The CR-X is also a good looking car, a compact fastback that looked like it is always ready to pounce on whatever car that wanders too near to it.

The CR-Z, as leaked in the Full Monty in what appears to be a Japanese Domestic Market sales brochure here, has captured the essence of the CR-X styling so it is our greatest hope that it should also emulate the car's driving habits.

It is also our greatest hope that Honda Malaysia will bring it over. It's not too far fetched. After all, the Type R is here and they are selling every single one that they can brig in..

Honda is a hallowed name among car buyers; their mass market models such as the City and Civic are considered as among the best in their class, in any market in the world.

Owners and drivers talk about Honda's engineering pedigree and motorsports history but are they just repeating Honda's marketing speak or are the claims genuine? Honda Malaysia thought it would be best if we found out for ourselves.

The best way to find out if a car has what it takes to cut it as a driver's car is to see how big a smile it can put on your face when on the track.
