PETALING JAYA: A minister should be held accountable if his subordinates are proven to be corrupt, and if he had knowledge of their corruption. That's the united stand of several anti-corruption nongovernmental organisations.

They fully back the statement of Integrity Institute of Malaysia (IIM) president, Datuk Dr Mohd Tap Salleh, who commented on the arrest of Hasbie Satar, the former political secretary to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, for alleged corruption.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commision (MACC) deputy chief commissioner, Datuk Mohd Shukri Abdull, has refuted claims that Kelantan MACC has been onesided in handling a corruption report against the Menteri Besar, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

"The commission has done a thorough investigation on this matter. We submitted the investigation reports to the Attorney General's office last week," Shukri told The Malay Mail yesterday evening.

SHAH ALAM: A Road Transport Department (RTD) director was charged with misusing his position for personal gain at the Sessions Court here this morning.

RTD station verification chief Mohd Yusoff Ahmad, 42, was accused of committing the offence on Nov 7, 2007, at the RTD North Port verification station in Klang.

SHAH ALAM: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer, Raub Ghani, who had lodged a police report against a Thai pathologist for disclosing an autopsy report on the death of Teoh Beng Hock, will not be
cited for contempt of court.

Coroner Azmil Muntapha Abas made the decision after dismissing the application by Teoh's elder brother, Meng Kee, that the officer be cited for contempt of court.

WHILE I defend the right of every Malaysian to use words that are part of the wider vocabulary and have been used by the world at large freely, I condemn the above acts of sacrilege towards Islam.

These are deliberate attempts to cause great damage not only to Muslims, but the country and the Malaysian  public.

Catch the perpetuators of such sickening acts and punish them severely according to the law of the land.–  Malaysia.

PENANG: The DAP took to task the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for lodging a police report against Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand.

Its secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said this was the first time in Malaysian history that accusations had been made against a pathologist for carrying out his or her duties.
